General Statement of Job:
Under regular supervision, performs various manual maintenance duties required in support of the department. Reports to the Foreman

Specific Duties and Responsibilities (This is descriptive, not restrictive as to all tasks included in this position):
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Construction Worker II�s perform a variety of work according to assigned work and/or supervisor. Duties may include the following: Performs asphalt duties such as raking asphalt, laying down cold mix, leveling roads with sand, etc. Performs parkway duties such as weed eating ditches and right-of-ways, cutting grass, removing trees and limbs, etc. Performs drainage duties such as assisting Operators, removing manhole covers, washing drain lines, adding water to machine, etc. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as verbal instructions. Prepares and/or processes various records and report such as verbal instructions. Refers to maps / directions, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, etc. Operates a variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery such as riding mower, etc. Uses a variety of tools such as weed eater, scale, rake, etc.; and a variety of supplies such as asphalt, replacement parts, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Foreman, coworkers, and the general public. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as required. Essential duty status position, will be required to report to work during emergency situations, including, but not limited to, city-wide declared emergencies.

Communication Skills:
Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisors.

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a residential truck, shovel, pitchfork, hydraulic system, etc. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to fifty pounds.

Mental Involvement:
Requires the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

Minimum Training and Experience Qualifications:
Requires one to two years of construction operation experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid Class D Louisiana driver�s license.

Interpersonal Relationship Skills:
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. The worker needs to relate to people in situations involving more than giving or receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal levels of stress when confronted with an emergency.

Salary Requirements:
$12.0159 PER HOUR / 40 HOURS PER WEEK
