General Statement of Job:
Under general supervision, performs unskilled to skilled work in one or more building trades to maintain and repair assigned facilities. Work involves repairing, remodeling, building (carpentry, plumbing, and electrical), cleaning, stripping and waxing floors, etc. Reports to the assigned Foreman.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities (This is descriptive, not restrictive as to all tasks included in this position):
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintenance Repair Technicians perform a variety of work according to assigned work and/or supervisor. Duties may include the following: Performs cleaning and general building and grounds maintenance. Sets up tables, tents, and chairs for events and special events. Performs grass cutting and edging. Ensures that all assigned buildings are cleaned and well kept. Fixes and/or repairs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Receives and/or reviews various records and report such as work orders and verbal instructions. Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as verbal information. Refers to street maps, instructions to assemble, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc. Operates a variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery such as lawn mower, truck, weed eater, blower, lawn edger, etc. Uses a variety of tools such as general hand tools, drill, pallet jack, air tools, jack, screwdrivers, pliers, socket set, wrenches, etc.; and a variety of supplies such as wood, paint, light bulbs, cleaning products, gas, oil, general office supplies, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as immediate supervisor, coworkers, contractors, officials / administrators, and the general public. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides backup support for other coworkers when needed. Performs related duties as required. Position is an Essential Duty position and will be required to report to work during emergency situations, including, but not limited to, city-wide declared emergencies.

Communication Skills:
Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes the receiving of information and instructions from supervisor.

Physical Requirements:
Requires medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, stretching or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis, or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Mental Involvement:
Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.

Minimum Training and Experience Qualifications:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by three to six months of related facility maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license –Class D. May be required to obtain specific technical certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor.

Interpersonal Relationship Skills:
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines. Worker may be subject to danger or risk to a moderate degree.

@12.0159 PER HOUR / 40 HOURS PER WEEK
