General Statement of Job:
Under general supervision, performs manual work in receiving and storing supplies and materials for the Food Bank Division. Work involves picking up and stocking food items and preparing food boxes for Food Bank clients. Reports to the Program Coordinator.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities (This is descriptive, not restrictive as to all tasks included in this position):
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Unloads food donations and supplies by hand and with the assistance of equipment. Breaks down boxes and other packing materials, disposing of them according to procedure. Stock shelves per established procedures. Prepares baskets for families based on family size. Performs general groundskeeping for Food Bank facility such as blowing yard and parking lot, emptying garbage containers, picking up trash and debris, etc. Drives City vehicle to collect and deliver paperwork, food, etc. Maintains a clean facility by sweeping, mopping, emptying garbage containers, and sanitizing restrooms. Opens and locks facilities when needed. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as list of eligible clients. Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as notification of spoiled goods, freezer temperature readings, etc. Refers to food guideline list, safety guides, evacuation plan, memorandums, employee handbook, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc. Operates a variety of equipment and machinery such as forklift, pallet jack, hand truck/dolly, blower, telephone, etc. Uses a variety of tools such as box cutter, mops, brooms, buckets, scissors, etc.; a variety of supplies such as tape, food, baskets, general office supplies, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Program Coordinator, coworkers, other department employees, clients, and the general public. Communication Skills:
Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a ladder, broom, forklift, hand jack, and a variety of automated office machines which include copier, fax machine and related equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work involves light duty most of the time, walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to fifty pounds.

Mental Involvement:
Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.

Minimum Training and Experience Qualifications:
Current, permanent Civil Service status in the Department of Community Development; high school diploma, GED, HiSet, or equivalency certificate with some warehousing/inventory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license. NOTE: Candidates must submit a copy of their high school diploma or equivalent by 4:00 PM, March 21, 2018.

Interpersonal Relationship Skills:
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.

Test Required:
COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION - This class is announced on a competitive basis. The examination consists of a rating of education, training and experience.

Salary Requirements:
$11.2058 PER HOUR / 35 HOURS PER WEEK
